View Full Version : MetaNurb objects & Rendering
heynewt 11-24-2004, 01:31 AM Not sure in Studio 2.0 how to get a LW MetaNurb object with MorphBlends to render correctly. I'm from LW, and I'm looking for the LW equivalent of "Perform MetaNurb Subdivisions BEFORE MorphBlend Deformations". It seems my deformations are happening before the object is subdivided. Needless to say the rendered object is a mess.
What I don't understand is that it LOOKS FINE in the OpenGL window, but when I render it's a mess. There don't seem to be many options on the MetaNurb tab in Setup.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Use predefomed Points: Allows the Bone Deform Effect to take other effects into account which may be calculated before it. For example, you might want to have a morph calculate before the bones.
Note: This panel appears when you have the Bone deform effect (purple diamond) selected in the Item List......
I cut this outta the docs.....not sure it is the answer.

(edited: Thanks, didn't even KNOW about that one)
Aaah, found it. It's not exactly like LW, in that it's divided between the Setup tab (Object block) and the Render/Surfaces (Object). But I understand the reasoning behind the way they're divided.
And yes, it's in the manual, but you get so many returns on typing MetaNurbs that it takes some sleuthing to actually find it all.

Yes the docs are much easier once you know what to search for.....search is a relative term with e-docs....and the first time you read them thru it's hard to tell what is important. In the end they are very quick once you get better accquainted with it all. When I first was learning LW I was totally confused by the plugin structure. But after a while it was second nature.
