Hi to all.

This is my scenario idea hope u like.

<< In the galaxy of Herios 2 tribes were always in conflict the Shair and the Kthra.
In the many years of war the damage the 2 tribes had made to each other and to their lands was
more than great.
Their planets couldn't produce enough resources so the war was more and more brutal.
Technological the two tribes were in the same position except that the Shair were more interested
in genetics and the Kthra more interested in seerdom processors made for enhasing the power of
the supercomputers.
Its tecnhnology has its advantages and disadvantages.
The war was made for a third planet of the system called Anatropos. This planet had the most
beatifull environment of the three planets but also and the most resources. Actually this planet
was so big and pure that could feed both tribes without problem but the people couldn't see that.
Shair In the many years of war had created some extremely powerfull beasts and Kthra had some
extremely powerfull robots.
The 2 head scientists of the 2 tribes had seen the destruction that was made mindless from the
people and decided in a secret meeting to combine their technologies so they could create
something that could control the 2 tribes before something undoable might happen to the planets.
In the years to come the 2 scientist had made a lot of progress in what they had in mind The
scientist from the tribe of Shair being an artist in genetics has created a creature of extreme
power but gave him gentle purpose in life the scientist from the tribe of Kthra created a
supercomputer that could make the power and intelligence of the creature reach in levels unknown
for any creature of their time.
When finally the creature was complete there was time for the awakening.
Creature Knew how to talk to communicate to fight, also had a great knowledge of the culture of
both tribes so when it woke up knew what had to be done for the peace and what was its purpose in
life.
The creature has been named after the universe Herios.
The creature when it woked up started to do what it was made for with its extreme power of mind
it could control the creatures of the Shair but also and the machines of the Kthra in only a few
days both tribes were captured by their own weapons.
Creature has seen the destruction of the planets and decided to create a new world that both
tribes would have to live inside in peace so it began. in the third planet using the robots and
the creatures has created a city combing the culture of the 2 tribes. The result was a city of
beauty.
The 2 tribes had lived for 10 years in their planets without knowing what was going to happen.
The creature left them alone without technology, resources and anything else so they could think
about the destruction they made.
These were difficult years for the people the food wasn't enough to feed the population and the
water was very polluted and very hard to purify it.

The day of the celebration of the creation of the universe was near. The creature transfered both
populations in the great city.
After all population has been gathered to the center the creature started to speak to the heart
of the people and and made them understand not the destruction but the creation they could offer
in the world if no war existed it told them they were not prisoners or enslaved but free to do
anything in this world except war.
People of both tribes started to understand their mistakes and decided that it was time for the
war to an end and to live as friends in this city.
The day of the celebration of creation of the universe had come the people were leaving happily
together and in the great square of peace under the totem of war that was there to remind them
the mistakes of war the people in great joy and celebration had been united in this new era.>>

cool stuff...

I read the story... and it's not really my taste if it comes to scifi stuff... maybe a bit too cheesy for me... but it's cool introduction for your picture.

The mainpart seems to be the street, where all the people are walking on... what is this street for? Does it have something to do with the festival?


What does the creature look like?
Maybe you want to create something like a parade or so... people at both sides of the road and some creatures and people in the middle with costumes or so... dunno


looks really cool though...

actually i wont make any parade is a celebration were all people of both tribes will be gathered in the center of the city.

Nice start Vagelis! The model looks quite similar to the concept! I would suggest though giving some more curves on his face, right now looks kind of flat.

Great artwork you have here :), I like the concept and all :) the only think I will suggest for now. The anatomy of the character is a little bit odd... for example, the creature is a biped, the feet are planes, this will cause problems walking. I also could re-vise the "hips" it seems like the character doesnt have hips???

The concept sketch is really nice with a nice sense of depth , the chars looks nice too . Your progress is coming along great Lelantos maybe the arms are to large but is a personal taste.

Hi man.. u are progresing on this ..very good ...but my best advice is before you go o theguns and more stuff u want to mak ...stay some more time in your alien...It's better to have something ready before u proceedto the next one i think..

I suggest u think first that your alien is a BIPED (DIPODO) so maybe u have to make some thoughts on his proportions ....Hands i think should be a little fatter and shorter..(legs too)...Torso (KORMOS) should be a little taller and try some refinements taken basically from human anatomy maybe...Try some reference from www.fineart.sk (http://www.fineart.sk/) ...i think u could find a lot of stuff there and also some alien drawings to give u ideas and proportion reference....

U are doing good work man...just refine what u have done before proceeding to the next model...

Hi Vagelis................You know I think the toes looked better than the shoes,perhaps you can keep him barefooted?I would add a third toe,this will balnace him out better........Also add a bit more upper lip......It is a good idea to refine what you have more before you jump too fast to the next models.........Keep at this,your goal here should be to get good practice not only in your skills,but to "Finish" and complete this challenge........Work hard,you are doing a good job..........:arteest:

Lelantos,

I like your story idea , I do think you are going to have to concentrate on the buildings and enviroment to make your image work. I like your creature model,very original , I would like an even cuvier face to the creature.

Ok here it is a first atempt on texturing unfortunatelly i have some hardware problems so i had to render low quality and without displaycement.
But its ok works good and like that except the hard edges

mmoir : Yes you are right i have to concentrate on the buildings and environment but i haven't decided yet on the architecture of the buildings so i leave that for later...

Kaksht, terraarc: thanx for the suggestion, yes you are right about specular and armor need some refinments but i can't do anything right now i can't test it every time i render i get error :sad: so i just model for now till i fix that.

Hey. I finally got a chance to stop by and check out your work. I like it. The alien looks good. It's a good mix of traditional alien with original ideas. The ships are really impressive. It kind of reminds me of steamships built around organics. All in all, I really like it. No crits as of yet, but I'll keep on the lookout for something. There's gotta be something! :D Later.

This is final model of the spaceship more details will be added with texturing since it will be far from camera i dont want to make it very detailed

Ok started to model the shair tribe when i finish i will make to both charachters some refinements and variations in sizes, charachteristics and clothing.

wow Vagelis really great aliens. They look ancient yet advanced. The ship design you did is very organic feeling which I personally love. Excellent work friend. Keep at it. Things are coming along nicely.

arturro: Actually last weekend i learned how zbrush works its really a very good tool. this is actually an automatic displaycement that has been painted over. ofcourse i had to unwarp first the alien in maya and then import it to zbrush and create the displaycement.

its really easy now to create a final texture for him since i have actually the base.:thumbsup:

Hi, Lelantos,

I like your spaceship model very much, but let me give some critics on aliens. For me his bottom looks way too small and musculature needs some adjustment. Yes, it is alien from another world and he can be different, but if you make it partly humanlike, you need also human proportions. It's not easy. Modelling different creatures is really hard task, i've not tried it myself yet... You should take a look at caricatures (I mean good ones). There you can find guidelines how to modify proportions.

And one thing more. The face of alien looks a bit too plain for me. Maybe you can perform just some tiny surface modifications on face to add some makeup or character, but this is just for you to decide.

Go on - you make good work :thumbsup:.

tikson: yes you have right about themusculature of the alien i am making some refinements right now
About the face i have made some changes but not much is still plain i think i like it this way ofcourse the bump texture is not yet ready so many details will be added there.

I can't wait to see him textured. I have just finished the texturing of the last vehicle and have a break from it:) I want to see your alien texturing, because I will do it soon when I will model my aliens. Check out my vehicle, I'm curious what do you think

Ok made some modification to the botom and head to musculs etc. i think it better now still no modification to the eyes

Ok this is one of the creatures that will fly near the spaceships it will be driven by one shair.
Hope you like it. I am starting texturing alll models i created so far today.

Yap! it's about time to texture something:) the creature looks very nice. I like you smooth modeling. with the building it looks strange, simple shape with complicated legs, gut it's promising... I think that the success of it will depend on texturing.

Very beautiful and organic. One thing bothers me: the narrow piece that connects the tail to the body doesn't look big enough to support it or to contain enough muscle to move it. Now maybe if the tail is going to be a very thin, translucent thing it would seem different.

The coloring on the sship is good in my opinion. I think you should add some color variations on the ship. Some lights, windows etc...

The creature looks awsome, maybe doing some color shifting to another color..to break all these browny textures.....just a thought...:shrug:

Haya! mate! nice job you have done here! My suggestion is regarding the texturing of the ship, I dont really care about the patter, but you have to brake it somehow, add dust and stuff like that, in overlay mode if you are using photoshop, this might help. One thing I do always is to go really low in the hue/saturation (saturation) of the textures, and then increment the saturation as needed. For example, your model looks like a new toy (IMO) add variations of teh overall color in different layer styles, remember not to go heavy on the difference because this will cause your model to look very dirty and noisy. I will suggest adding some and post an image, then add some more, and post another image, so we can see the variation and the different stages without causing an impact to our sight :D!

If this is aorganic ship, then add some pieces of organic stuff, veins like cables and stuff like that.

EDIT: Sorry I forgot to mention something else... your light situation is killing the model, you have really dark shadows right now, and you want us to be able to see the whole model, like a showcase, then you can remove those lights and add the lights of the enviroament!

Very nice my friend! I would advice to use some bump map to simulate some skin pattern... it looks too smooth now.. or go in the other direction, and don't add bump, but make the skin "wet" I'm looking forward for the next updates!

Very interesting glow you got there mate! I will suggest adding bones or nerves like detail... such glow mus cause the skin to get a bit translucent :)

Regarding your ship... There is one thing bothering me the most... I think the ship is way too clean and its also "shiny" "specularity is too high" Add some scratches at the bottom oand sides of the ship, I bet some meteors hit that thing while surfing the space.

I thought of something else...

this time for the creatures, add some sort of "scales" like bump map, use the same map for the specularity! that will give that creature a really nice touch!

graga: Actually this was created with glow inside maya.
I created a texture spacifying wich parts of the creature i wanted to glow and import it to the glow tab inside the shader, i adjust the glow by making lighter or brighter the image. Hope that helps.

Arsa: Yes you are right i have to make that ship less shiny and i will add some more dust and scratches to the ship.

i will try that for specularity at the creature and see what i can do for the translucent i will do some tests.thanx for the tip:)

The ship's texture is more accurate this way, but can't tell the size (From some certain aspects it looks like "tzitziki"!! Sorry, don't know this word in English..)

The creature is good too and I think ARSA's idea will look fine with it...

Well the ship looks really cool now mate, good variation in the colors. I dont think you are using a strong bump map, I think it will add some minor details and make it look even cooler.

For the guy. Add some wrinkles to the clothing, unless is latex clothing :)
His boots are way too squared at the front... you might look into that...

Your guy is coming along nicely aswell, a couple of things worth mentioning would be adding some wrinkles and rounding off the boots as ARSA mentioned. Also I'm not sure if it's just me but the hands seem to be at a strange angle.

The model and texture on you ship looks great, good job. The Shair character looks good , once you add more wrinkles(they are tough to do I know) he will look great too. The one thing I notice is the face of the character should be a little more defined IMO. Maybe a cheekbone or eyesockets, something that will let the character show emotion.

Very different, organic-style to your models than a lot of other entries I've seen. (really like your flying creature designs; almost has a "Dune"-quality to them)

Your latest alien..... I don't know, but something about the eyes really throws off the character for me (but I can't explain why it does that). Also, maybe it's just the angle, but I think the left leg is showing through the skirt a little bit (near the thigh).

In my opinion he should have much contrast on his clothing. I mean some very dark colors, and light(I would make only his yellowish part light, and the rest dark). Only a hoi thought:)

I prefer too the new take on textures and agree with fellow CG-talker Climax on giving some depth to the texture...saturation and bump would work that way (8elei porous to derma....)

Looking good Lelantos. I like how well you've kept the male and the female looking like they're from the same species. I wonder if their specular sheen isn't a bit smooth, though--the noisy colour of thier skin makes me think they'd be bumpier--they look kind of shiny. keep up the great work :thumbsup:
