View Full Version : Resizing a character with Biped
Dinodiegus 08-26-2002, 08:12 PM Hi friends, just wondering, How do you resize a biped without deforming the polygon model thats attached to it with physique.
When i resize my biped i am in Figure mode and i select all the biped, i make it bigger and it works, except my mesh doesnt follow the resize.
Anybody know how to do it correctly?
Thanks.

Hmm, I'm confused. First you say you want to rescale the Biped without having it affect the Skin? Then you say in figure mode it does this. Which do you want to do? Figure mode is a way to modify a Biped independant of the skin mesh.

OK sorry if i was'nt clear enough, i will explain.
What i want, is when i resize my Biped, i want the mesh or model to follow exactly the size i am resizing the Biped.
When i do this, my mesh doesnt resize correctly, i get like a distorted character .
So my question is : How do you resize a biped and its mesh or model at same time without having a distortion.
i dont want to redo the physique every time i have to resize a character.
is clear enough now ?

What about deleting the Physique modifier, selecting both the Biped and the Skin mesh, and scaling them together? The problem with having Physique on there is that the mesh will scale with the Biped AND scale based on the physique envelopes (I think). If you scale both at the same time, then they will be exact, and then you can reapply and initialize Physique.

I've had this same problem and never came up with an easy solution. The bottom line is plan ahead and don't resize your character after it's been skinned.
I had to do this at work and this is the procedure:
-go to figure mode in biped
-select the mesh and save the skin data and then delete physique
-change the height of the biped by a certain percentage (15-%, 200%, whatever)
-select your mesh and scale it by the same percent
-move the mesh to fit over the biped if necessary
-reapply physique and reload skin data, which only sometimes works.
This is one of my biggest complaints with character studio.
