Hi Andromeda_girl, pleased to make your acquaintance. I hope these suggestions point you in the right direction.
I don't know if you were aware of this site:
http://members.shaw.ca/lightwavetutorials/Main_Menu.htm
It is a collection of links to various tutorials around the Web specifically for LightWave. I think you might want to check out this link first:
http://members.shaw.ca/lightwavetutorials/character_anime.htm
You can also visit the SpinQuad forums to check out this thread:
http://www.spinquad.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1871
Digiwonk's free rigging videos for LW have also been recommended. You should be able to find them here:
http://www.kurvstudios.com/free_tutorials/ (http://www.kurvstudios.com/free_tutorials/)
I hope that will give you what you need. If all else fails, just ask your specific questions in the LightWave forum here on CGTalk. I think you would get plenty of help, because I always have. :)
