Need some help in recreating a surface. I don't do alot of surfacing so i'm having problems recreating this surface. The surface i'm trying to do is a bare metal aircraft finish like this:

Any suggestions? I thought maybe take a chrome then tone down the reflection and blur the reflection but that just looked like chrome still.

I tend to do a lot of metals with procedurals, more than just chrome. Adding bumps, spec maps, diffuse, etc.

However you could paint a color, bump, spec and reflection map for something like this. It'll take some time, just work with tones of greys, and then you can always drop a hue & saturation layer on, if you want to color it.
