View Full Version : uvw mapping issues
curt_kuepfer 08-26-2002, 05:02 PM Hello all,
I am having some issues with my mapping. I have tried all I know to iron the problem out, but I can't seem to find a solution.
Does anyone have any suggesstions on how to fix the warp in the texture?
Sorry about the location of the image, I don't have any webspace at the moment.

Hey Curt, I see that you are still building guns for that mod group, glad to see that that is still working out for you.
As for your problem, it is occuring because you are stretching your (long) UVW coordinates unevenly along the bottom edge to make it conform to your bitmap, which in turn is causing the distortion that you see.
There are two obvious solutions for this. Either fix up your texture so that it matches the shape of the gun correctly or move the UVW points along that bottom edge back in so that you are not distorting them anylonger.
Hope this helps

Hey,
Thanks for your advice. I've been able to fix the problem.
As for building mods, I haven't been doing that for some time, I'm working on a commercial game project now.
Where did we meet?

The problem has been resolved with a complete remap of the object and a new texture.
The problem undoubtedly was a result of a stretch of the mesh, which noone here could have known with the givven information. Basically, before the problem arose, I stretched the front of the gun increasing the length of the slide. The "skin" was mapped to the shorter slide so when the geometry was moved, it was enough that it couldn't be edited by moving vertices within the painted boundaries.
I appreciate everyones help and all the advice, it was a problem that I didn't give enough detail about.
All in all, I found the problem and have fixed it, so thats good.
Thanks again!.
