Hey, everyone..
I have missed some good sketches this week... DAM finals approaching... I will have more time during the holiday weekend I hope...
well guess what I finally obeyed you guys suggestion and I got a WACOM tablet! It is a 6*8 graphire 3 tablet. I am going to try this out and then if I like it invest on the Intous 3 9*12. I also saw wacom had this Cintiq thing that you can draw ON the screen! wow, cool, maybe I will kill my piggy bank and get that one.

so in honor of my new WACOM I will like to post today even thought I am pressed for time.
:) fun :bounce: :bounce:

Sagi - welcome to the wonderful world of Wacom! I lust in my heart for the Cintiq also. But since art isn't my job, I have a hard time justifying to myself spending that kind of money. But I do think its high time I upgraded to a bigger and newer tablet from my Intuos 2 4x5!! Enjoy and lets see some great sketches soon!

oh...and..PS - you're not going to like it, you're going to LOVE it, so start saving your pennies in the penny jar right away!

Sagi -- Damn, girl! If you're not careful, people will be begging you for tutorials now. Seriously, though. It looks like you've got some painting experience that you weren't able to show off with a mouse. Be careful with your brushstrokes, though. The lines on the front fireman's cuff and his chest, and on the rear fm's tank look like you ran out of patience at the end and squiggled them in. It stands out because the rest of the shaded areas are so well chosen. Also, front fm's hands could use some yellow highlights a) to show how close the fire is, and b) to show distinct fingers on his hands. Glad you're enjoying your new Wacom! :)

Oh my, thank you so much guys for the nice words, it really means a lot to me.
I also enjoy the crits cause it helps me out to get better.
I must say this daily sketch thing is really great, I dont always have time to do it every day but just by doing this practice I feel that I have indeed gotten better. I see the improvement with everyone.
:) so I just wanted to extend a thank you to everyone for making this sketch group what it is.

Thought I'd have some fun. Can't do much without my tablet here at home.

PS7 w/mouse approx. 30-45min. What's a good technique for making fire?

Crap. I just realized my lighting is all off on my matches. Shouldn't have done the bevel like that. grrr...

I just made a custom brush that works quite well:
http://img81.exs.cx/img81/7642/flameshow.jpg
But for stylised fire, I'm still getting the hang of it myself!

Good work everybody!

This happened to me at a company party (except the barbeque was one of those 50gallon drums cut in half and layed horizontal). I kept dumping lighter fluid on the hot briqetts unti... FOOOM!!! I lost all the hair on my face and forhead... heh.

...it's great to have a place to practice each day. I second that! I struggle to draw stuff for the sake of drawing. Having topics put up for us and a place to display the work is awesome! And THANK YOU RobertoOrtiz and CGtalk!

Sagi, I also use a Graphire3. I thought the Intous was too expensive, maybe when my Graphire breaks down I'll consider buying an Intous :) Some people like the Graphire better than the Intous and visa versa, but for me it was a price thing. So for now enjoy your Graphire3!
But that Cintiq is very sexy, very expensive too!

Keem: truly brilliant!

I just couldn't watch this thread without posting some positive comments on your drawing.
Simple, to the point and -oh boy- so funny :)

It actually took me a few minutes to recover from laughter. http://lowrider.pointclark.net:3000/forum/images/smiles/145.gif

how y'all doin my lovelies?

Some great pix on here today! Friday and Vitriolic especially...

Sagi - Congrats on the aquisition of your Wacom! You'll never look back! As the 1980's British pop/dance crossover diva Yazz once said, "The only way is up, baby!"

Soup, where you been man?

So here's my little effort...

40 mins Photoshop and Wacomette.

damn sagi, getting the wacom was quite a good thing for you! although i can't say you weren't making definite improvement with the mouse, but this was kind of like a leap for you. hope it's not beginners luck...haha just messin.

Sagi_13 do you know that wacom has pressure sensitivity? That's one of the things to buy it after all. Wacom is a waste of money if it wouldn't have pressure sensitivity. I think graphire isn't enough good considering it's price. I' am buying a wacom volito someday.

Amanda loved to perform her "Blazing Batons of Death" routine.
http://www.k-squared.com/matches.jpg

Keem - that is so funny....but I didn't know you had met my grandson! That seems like something he would do. Especially since his father has the nickname of "Sparky" ever since he accidentally caught the kitchen on fire in his brand new house! :)

Virtiolic - WOW! That is classic! Great one!

Too many fantastic ones to comment on all - really good work everyone.

I've been a bit uninspired lately. Sorry for that. Busy at work, wanting to finish the Space Opera piece first, a very complicated painting I have in my head, yadayadayada...

Anyway, about 30 minutes from ref:
