also check a tutorial I wrote about basic glass here

Only advanced thing about glass materials that comes to mind is fresnal reflections.
Go here (http://www.neilblevins.com/cg_education/glass_chrome_pottery/glass_chrome_pottery.htm)
He's using Brazil, but the Raytrace material has all the settings you need to follow his directions (in the paragraph above the clear glass teapots, start with "For a quick description of making glass").

I use 3ds max 5 default renderer ..
My way of making glass material is applying a reeflaction map, with amount of 90, and selecting a raytrace map ..
But I want someting better :hmm:

The other thing to remember when making glass for the default renderer is to make it double sided (just check the button below the material spheres in the material editor)or the refraction won't work. :)

Dr. Smart remember most usualy glass refracts more light then it reflects. Be sure to place a reflect/refract map in your refraction slot.
