Hello out there. I thought that I would ask a question in this forum. I figure that someone out there has had a problem similiar to mine. I purchased a Radeon 9600 XT 256mb card, and upgraded my RAM to 512 megs. I was so excited a the time. All the software that I had on the computer at the time seemed to improve in performance. Just great! Then I installed Messiah Studio. That's when my joy turned to sorrow. Even when I can get Messiah to run, as soon as do anything, the screen freezes, and I have to reboot the machine. I went to the website and followed their advice on what to do. Still hasn't worked. Does anyone have any ideas? [Buying another video card is not really an option as I'm in the process of building another computer w/a Nvidia card.] What I'm yhinking about is another driver, with video sittings. Any help that people can give is more than appreciated.

Yes I know how to fix this. I had the same problem on my Radeon 9800.

There are two things you can do to fix this.

I found out that Messiah was freezing because of OpenGL textures it uses on its interface. To check if that is true with your system you have to remove textures (icons) from two following directories:

C:\Program Files\pmG\messiahstudio2.0\messiah\modules\defaults\icons

and

C:\Program Files\pmG\messiahstudio2.0\messiah\modules\scripts\icons

I suggest that you move these textures somewhere else. Those two directories must be totally empty. Now run Messiah and see if it crashes. If it doesn't then it must be the textures but now the interface lacks graphics. What you can do now is put some textures back where they were. I have put back icons for undo, redo, coordinate system and some others too and it works fine. There are some textures that cause Messiah to chrash, mainly bigger ones which were ment to be used with armatures. If you leave just a couple of icons that are cruical for the interface you shouldn't have any trouble.

The second thing is the driver. Messiah doesn't display any textures on my system if I use new Radeon drivers so I use following drivers which work perfectly. The file is: wxp-w2k-7-93-030812a1-010736c.exe so I guess you can read out the version from this file name and download it from ATI site.

Istaling newest ATI drivers fixes the problem.
I used wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-071-041026a-018719c.exe version of driver. I have Radeon 9550.
