RenatoT 11-21-2004, 07:53 AM Hi list,
I just done a Plugin in Coffee that Deform Geometry over a path.
Limited Edition is Free and can be downloaded from:

This looks pretty cool. And seems to be easier to use than the native spline deformer. I'm gonna give it a whirl.
Well i've tried it out. It only worked correctly a few times. When i tried to use my own scene, i.e., spline, and objects, the objects not always stayed on the spline and the deformation was not what i expected. Anyone have these same problems ? Maybe i am doing something wrong. Just a FYI so to improve this nice little plugin.
I was just wondering if it would be possible for you to make a deformer based on geometry? This is slightly off topic but i think cinema would greatly benefit from a mesh based deformer. I have mentioned this in other threads but never to a programmer. Well i think i did email Paul Everett requesting this.

Seems like a limited version of MSA but I guess if the price is right (i.e., a fair bit less than MSA) it could find an audience.

Danb, you need to place correctly Axis for "Master Object", location for axis is the exact location where a path will pass.
Let me know.
Thanks

Hi AdamT, Msa is a Object Spline Placer, Path Deformer is a real point deformer on a path.
The price will be 22€ for full release that will be soon compiled in C++ for faster performances.
thanks

Hi AdamT, Msa is a Object Spline Placer,It also does deformation along a path using FFD.

Sorry, i don't know MSA and a demo give me a Coffee error so i can't test :(
thanks for info

That would be quite worthwhile for a lot of applications I think, including muscle deformation if such a deformer can coexist in the same hierarchy as bone deformers (e.g. add its weight to a mesh deformed by bones).

Yep that's what i want it for. I've been drooling over the mesh deformer in maya for some time now. It also very useful for things like complex dynamics as a proxy object.
Thanks rinato i got it working now. Nice plugin.

Tell me more please. Any doc, html page that illustrate what you mean? My eng is poor :)

Ok well basically a Wrap Deformer in Maya (its official name) is a polygon object used to deform the shape of another polygon object. So a very useful, albeit simple, example would be if you have a cube with only six polygons. Then you have another cube with subdivisions of 24 polygons. You could use the 6 polygon cube to deform the 24 polygon cube. A more complicated example would be if you had a selection of polygons split from the bicep area of a human mesh. You could use that small optimized area of polygons with PLA to animate a strongly subdivided area of another human bicep area mesh.
Well i hope i didn't make it more complicated, but if you run a google search for Wrap Deformer and Maya you will find a lot of examples. I really hope you are able to program such a tool. I know it would sell well. Good luck if you try. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes, indeed! What DanB explained would be a reeeeaaaallllyyy helpful plugin! I would pay for that.

i'm not sure i still get what you guys want..but in ditools 1.3 there is something called dimultiprojector would something like that help you for what you want?...check out the examples 1 and 3 "might" help...?
if not maybe suggest it to remotion he may be interested in adapting morpher or dimultiprojector for something like that...dunno. just a thought and don't want to step on anyones toes..whoever does it sounds interesting...basically a geometry deformer:shrug:
