View Full Version : facial animation in maya!
masterplebule 11-20-2004, 07:27 PM i have created a model of a mouth. it is a NURBS based model controlled by CV's. i have clustered these cv's into 8 different areas of the mouth(for maximun control) i aim to control the mouth with blend shapes. however when i duplicate my model the duplicated clusters become useless, and no longer control the cv's in the duplicated model. do i have to re-assign the cv's to the clusters? also are there any tips on creating some sort of muscle based mouth rig? i know i am asking alot but i would also like some tips on how to give the jaw movement a sense of weight any tips?:buttrock:

What you do is basic tutorial from Instanced Maya from version 4. The head with clusters for facial expressions.
If you want duplicates for making blendShape targets, select the model of head and Duplicate with option "duplicate input graph" selected. This will duplicate all your clusters and stuff connected to the history of the head.
Muscle simulation is more advanced. Itīs better for beginner to not use wraps or influence objects and just go along with Set Driven Key + blendShapes. This can simulate a lot of muscle movement.
