no, i cant, you'll all laugh and ill never be allowed on these forums again!

no, seriously, ive not really started them yet, im looking for a starting point which is why ive posted. I dont want to start them blind, if you see what i mean.

I might try a few experiments over trhe next few days and get peoples thoughts on them.

Your gonna have to show a little initiative before you'll get many replies...
Go ahead and post what you have... that 'is' your starting point...

go to the search option above and type in "misss" there is a thread in the Maya Rendering forum that will help you get started.

There's a few things you need to do with teeth:

really sharp specular - I would use an anisotropic shader for that
wetness - on the teeth warp the highlights - add a subtle fractal bump. Teeth have vertical ridges, so make your fractal stretched vertically
translucency - you can fake that by sticking a sampleinfo node into the UVs of a ramp
subtle coloration - a procedural (like stucco) with white and yellow mixed really subtley works nice. Also a ramp making the teeth more yellow as they get closer to the gums is good.

here's a pic (http://sharktacos.com/Emelia/char/animals/index.html)

okay been toying with teeth, heres my results: This was done in Max 7 using mental ray renderer. Teeth were done using a sss fast shader (high shinyness and a bump map). Never done any teeth before, so it was all about trial and error, but im quite happy with the results.

I know several people who use a sub surface skin shader for basic teeth shading. Might want to go down that avenue.

2 things ive chenged. Firstly, the teeth are too white, by looking at my own teeth there are differents shades of colour even in one tooth. Secondly, teeth are semi transparent, especially at the tip, so i added a transpancy map. i think the results are better.

I liked the first ones better.

The second are too greenish, try making them yellow-ish instead.
