I like the rendering. Especially how the flat surfaces look. The CD needs more work I think. Although I have no idea how the real PS2 looks like.

first of all, its much too wide. the power buttons are too big and stick out too far. the controller handles are not softened enough, not to mention that the controller looks altogether bloated. the sony logo is pretty much wrong. the ps2 logo on the side appears to have some sort of bump to it, and an actual ps2 has that logo painted on. the indented "ps2" and DVD logos dont look good. also, the bars on the front (i.e. memory card covers, cd-tray, etc) are much too round, as far as i can tell by the specular highlights. the x, tri, sq, and o buttons are much too small. i could go on, but i won't.

yeap. like i said, the controller sux.

Wow! you DO have an eye for serious details...
I am glad that i dont work for SONY....or i'll be outta job.
Thanks you for pointing out my mistakes... really. I guess i should go sit in a corner and think about all the mistakes i've done...
it's a disgrace to SONY and PS2. I apologise for producing such lame rendering and yet have the guts to publish it.

that's true.
i accept it....and i dont see anything wrong with me thinking bout my mistakes. it would certainly help, if i ever wanna model a PS2 again.

thanks very much.

also, you have to expect people to be very critical when you try to make an object that exists in real life

so true. never thought about that before actually.

Understood.
The outcome would be different if i tell everyone it's a
PS4 or something?
LOL!

the consele seems to be ok
but the controller needs some work
((the power and eject bottons should be more inside the consle not out side))
week going:thumbsup:

Oh yeah... point taken. Thanks.
Just that i'm too lazy to dig through my old works...and rework it again.

Modelled it in 2 hours for my bro's project last year. So i didnt give much attention to details.
:hmm:

Guess i've over-reacted a little. But Mr.wgeddes really gave me quite a bit of a shock. I mean.... if ~it doesn't really look much like a ps2~ than what does it look like?
Not only insulted my modelling ability (which i am NOT proud of, anyway), but also my intelligence for believing that i am modelling a PS2, not knowing that i have actually modelled hamburger or a Pokemon.

I sincerely apologise for the drama.

there's a fine line between constructive criticism and just coming off like an ass. esp when you don't know the person's background, how old they are, etc. IMO ending it with i could go on, but i won't. is crossing that line a bit, esp w/o looking at any positives of his work. but whatever....
wgeddes was pretty much right on with the details, basically depending on whats its being used for i'd fix some of the more major detail flaws, sizing, etc., but i own a ps2 and it def looked like one to me. good work.

I agree with Murdock, it's supposed to be constructive criticism, not destructive criticism. I have no problem with people pointing out flaws, but offer some friendly advice on how to improve the piece.
Brokenwing is obviously new here, use a little common sense, are you trying to scare off new members? If you want to thrash people, I would recommend maxforums, personally I enjoy the harshness over there, it just seems unneccessary here.:shame:

To say it does not look anything like a playstation 2 at all is off. There are some pointed flaws in the model yet I wouldnt say it looks nothing like the playstation 2. Lets not discourage him, there are some flaws and there are some good direction put into this model.

Just keep at it, it does look like the PS2, however; there must be some tuning in the modeling and texturing.

:)
good start

I found out last year that if something in your art isn’t just right someone will point it out. It doesn’t mean that theirs really anything wrong with it, it just means someone can’t see the art.
I was looking at your PS2 and said to my self “that looks great, the buttons are a bit too big but that’s a lot more fun then just making a blueprint in 3d. What it really needs is some cartoon kids playing it yelling and just having fun.” Maybe that’s not what you were going for, but nothing I ever make ends up being what I told it to be, its art it has its on life, as the artist were only its parents…

I love it; I’d just make it a cartoon PS2 and try not to be too surprised if Sony stills the idea and starts using something just like it!!!! (I would;))

Okay, at least your getting comments, even though some people should be more careful of how they word things. I mean there is two ways of saying bequiet or saying shutup. They could both do the job.

I am a graphic designer and all my life, I have gotten critiques, and I mean all sorts of comments. Some people are good with words and they can communicate better than others.

I like your PS2 and think you have done a good job.

although im as n00b as they come to the 3d scene I think wgeddes comments were accurate but inaccurately expressed.

His comments needed a little less bump, more softening on the edges and also to resize the dimension of critisism...lol...j/k

great job even though it not 100% true to life. It definately looks lie a PS2 to me :applause:

It doesn't really seem like that great a signature line, to be honest.

Kidding! :)

I wouldn't pay much attention to what they guy said. it looks very much like a playstation, with just few a minor adjustments needing to be made. Look at the guys webpage, the faces suck.
You put lot of work into it and it shows, well done.

I think it looks great personally! I've never used, or even really been around a PS2, (video games aren't my thing, bizarre really) so I can't say anything from the "these things are wrong" perspective. However, from the pics I've seen in advertisments and such, it looks accurate to me. And if it wasn't a PS2, it would be a great console design! Good work!:applause:

there are a few larger parts to the system but overall I like it and the general structure was well modelled, but i am an Xboxer so bad choice
