View Full Version : First post: simple question I hope...
Alan Lastufka 11-20-2004, 01:15 AM I have a file that includes about 5 texture maps (which were just .png files). I moved this cinema 4d file to a new folder (and copied the textures along with them) but now when I go to render it says it can't find the maps. I am using XL v7.
I even went as far as to rebuild the textures and repoint to the .png files, but it still doesn't see them when rendering.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Well C4D is supposed to look into the folder that the scene file resides in for textures so maybe the move confused it, try saving ( the project) again in the new location. I believe the save project command auto creates a tex folder
Alternatively make sure all your projects are in subfolders under one master folder ( called maybe projects) and add that to the the texture path ( found in options or settings i think)

Thanks for the tip but that didn't fix it.
I instead have started over on the project and am now using .tiff files instead of .png's. This seems to have fixed it for now.
Thanks again - I have a thousand more questions (our teacher took ill half way thru the course so it was basically independant study from then on). But I want to search previous posts alittle more before posting away.
Thanks again, really glad I found this place.

open your project..open the materials and reload the pngs and say as project would have said would have worked..anyways if you've sorted it now then all good.
also don't forget in edit>preferences>texture paths you can define where to find you textures . can slow things down if has a lot of stuff to look through but still useful.
and welcome to cgtalk...enjoy.
