Hi,
The issue that I'm having is I create a cluster of verticies to be deformed. Then I paint weights as needed. When I move or rotate the cluster everything works the way it should. However, when I parent the cluster to any object or simply group it to itself and I move or rotate the parent object, all verices move as if all had a weight value of 1. I tried checking the "relative" checkbox but all that does is cancel out the translations/rotations of the parent. But what I need to do is be able to manipulate the cluster using its parent.
Am I doing something wrong or this behavior is by design?

I think its a bug.
I'm sure that used to work prior to maya 5... but I could be wrong.

Thanks john_homer for your feedback. I guess one work around would probably be to point constrain it instead of parenting it.
