Hey guys. I know this very newbie, but i've got help here a lot of times before and....best way to learn something is from those more experienced since i only started in max 4 months ago.
I am modeling a Beretta9000 handgun.Just some details to add and a little tweaking left at the modeling part. Can anyone point me towards a tutorial(s) or can u give me some tips for texturing-mapping it?It would be greatly appreciated.Thanx

Well, first, you may wish to add some more detail from the modeling end of things, such as chamfered edges on all the parts. This will help when you start texturing, since you'll want it to pick up plenty of highlights. I'd make the surface quite specular (tall but small highlight), and make the color of the gun much darker. Then to add some variation to the spec, place a texture map in the specular slot of whatever software you're using, something that's dirty looking.

This may give you an idea or two:

Thanks for the replies, guys. I am going to do some more detailing, of course. The Neil Blevins render gave me few ideas.Appreciate it
