Hey everyone,

I just registered and this is my first post.
I'll get right to my question:

I am creating "clip art" type objects(trees, shrubs, etc...) to be flipped, shrunk, strecthed and generally manipulated at will in some arch. images. I've found using a pen and then painting the linework on a layer and saving it is workable in this fashion.

Now, the problem I'm having with this is that everytime I "place" a layer into a new canvas the edges of the placed layer leave a light grayish line... MADDENING!!! I can go back and erase after dropping the layers but there's just GOT to be a more efficient way to go about this.

Any thoughts are definately a help and greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Smith

Hi,

Below, I'll post a copy of the response I sent to your private e-mail on the same question:

That happens to me, too, when I use File > Place then Effects > Orientation > Commit Transform to change the Placed Reference Layer to a Default Layer. The only way to get rid of the grey line is to select and delete it or erase it. (Selecting and deleting would be my choice.)

A better solution:

Instead, try using File > Open to open the image you would otherwise have Placed. If you want it smaller to fit onto your working image, use Canvas > Resize and either change the Width and Height in pixels or change the unit of measure to Percent, then change the Width and Height to the reduction percent you want.

After the image is the size you want, use Ctrl/Command+A to select the entire image, Ctrl/Command+C to copy, go to your working image, and use Ctrl/Command+V to paste....

or.....

.... after the image is selected, click inside the selection using the Layer Adjuster tool, hold, and drag a copy to your working image.

The same thing happens if you try to resize a layer.
It is very annoying because this bug has been in Painter forever (Well since v4 when I started using it).
I can only hope that they fix it one day.

in addition to what Jin said maybe you could also try using the portfolio to save your clips in and then you can just drag them out into your image. don't know if this will cause the problem you mention or not.
