Hi, if anyone can help me out I would be so very happy.
I've lit the interior of the globe with an omni light. applied volumetric fog to the scene and a volume light to the omni. I cant figure out why I'm getting that artifacting, or lines or whatever around in the fog surrounding the globe. I've played with the shadow map parameters and that doesn't seem to work out either. I'm trying to render the image out at 1000X1000dpi so not that huge or anything. I was thinking that the low poly geometry of the globe may be causing it, but applying a meshsmooth doesn't seem to help either. ???

sorry to do this as a link instead of a straight image, but I'm kind of strapped right now. anyway, any help would be awesome.

Check the vol. light settings, make sure that "shadow sampling" (or something similar) is set to "high".

Will increase rendertimes, but should help. You can adjust the percentage manually to get a good compromise.

In your environment volume light FX dialog UP your sample volume %. By Default it's set to auto and at 20%. Try 60 - 80%. Will slow down render times but not by too much.

Hope that works,
Cheers,

Hey, it worked!!! Thanks so much for the help gents. Yo Rice, where are you at in Venice? I just moved to Santa Monica right off of the 405, about Wilshire and Bundy.
