View Full Version : Vray and render element
interference 11-16-2004, 04:20 PM hello,
i use 3dsmax and trying Vray and can't find a way to render elements only.
when set to vray render, the render element panel disappear, so what is the way to get
reflexions and shadows separatly with Vray ?
i hope i'm not asking something stupid :)

I would also like to know how to do this short of setting up seperate scenes for each pass.

This is a tutorial to get you started with compositing using 3ds max (although you can apply this to most any other software package).
The render elements for V-Ray are handled by V-Ray's own G-Buffer. Just highlight the passes you want and render with the V-Ray frame buffer.

Thanks for your reply. However I do not believe I made myself clear. I know how to do multipass rendering I dont know how to get the individual elements / passes from VRAY short of setting up individual scenes. The G Buffer Exports some elements but not all theones typicaly required i.e. Spec / Diff / Reflec / Shadow etc. Can these elements be exported from the G Buffer? If so this is what I need to know as I cannot find them.
Thanks

Your problem with not getting some passes to render out of vray could be that you HAVE to use vray materials in order to get some of those passes to work. All the passes you mentioned are possible to render out of Vray and show up as options in the G-buffer. So if your not finding them there in the list you have a more serious issue. In order to see those passes you will have to use V-Rays frame buffer.
I hope that was the answer you guys needed....If not then get really descriptive about the problem and I'll take another stab at it.

If you still are having trouble... what version of Vray are you using? Are you seeing them listed but are not being exported?

The options are not listed in the G Buffer list.
