A powerful Paladin in live, the ultimate gatekeeper in death. Although his psysical shape may not impress you much, it's housing a power beyond imagination. His mission: to keep the people wanting to flee in the underworld... He is the keeper of the borders.

wacom, photoshop, 3 hours (omg)

hey, good work everyone! sorry for posting late

I'm doing this one, even when I don't have time at all, because the first Daily Sketch where I participated was DS#17:The Keeper of the Gate (last june)... I think it was almost my first digital paint (well, it was done in pencil, scanned and colouerd in PS)...and this is what I did then:

http://gaitasfritas.250free.com/sketches/thumbs/tn_cancerberoend.JPG (http://gaitasfritas.250free.com/sketches/cancerberoend.JPG) (click to enlarge)

I had kept the original paper with the pencil sketch, so today I re-scanned it and recoloured it without looking too much to my prev. one, just to see if I had improved over this time or not... so this is it, today:

http://gaitasfritas.250free.com/sketches/cancerbero2end.JPG

it has taken around 1:20 or so in PS, so at least I think I've gained some speed

by the way, I don't know how it is in the different countries the traffic signal that says that a street has no exit... I did something similar to the spanish one, just as a little joke in the pic

This is the Ferryman. According to Greek legends after a person dies Hermes takes their soul to Hades. In order to get into Hades the soul needs to cross the river Acheron. Here the ferryman Charon will allow you to cross in his ferry provided that you can pay him. Coins were placed on the eyes or under the tongue so you could pay for the crossing or wander the banks of the river Styx for a hundred years.

For some reason I thought it made sense that he'd have coins for eyes. I took an image of a roman coin & put on just to make it a bit more obvious what they were, otherwise they looked like very badly drawn eyes :) Also did some colour correction & added a slight glow as well.

Lots of cool work everyone.
