View Full Version : L-Glass renders black

I've downloaded the MR shader L-Glass here:

http://home.broadpark.no/~rslettli/lob_glass.html

When I render the test scenes I get black objects.
I spoke with the author and he said to make sure the MSVCR71.DLL is in the same directory as the l-glass dll. It is... but I still get black objects. Furthermore I get absolutely no errors from XSI...

I've noticed that even though I have XSI installed on my H: drive, it installs shaders on my C: drive. Could this be the root of the problem?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Paul

You need this dll in your system32 directory.

msvcr70.dll:

I should've explained better. It was in my system32 directory in the .NET folder - the author emailed me and told me to put a copy of it in the same dir as the l-glass dll.

But, still no go.

Oh - I should also say that XSI didn't give any error messages at all when loading the test scenes.

I had that problem too. When I used it with thinner geometry to a model it worked fine or just a sphere. Make sure the scene isn't empty as well.Render the object in a sphere and maybe a three light setup just to make sure the shader is working at all.

Post an example and maybe someone could help you a bit more.

The problem is - these are the demo scenes that he created for you to test the shader. They've already been set up properly and should duplicate what he's posted on the site. When I render it I get black objects and a gray background.

The shader has been applied and shows up in the render tree, but doesn't work.

I think perhaps I should try reinstalling it, as was recommended on XSIBase.

I hope things work out for you. I have been testing the shader on different models and it works great.

If you get it working post some of your stuff. I'll post later when I get home.

I'm very anxious to play around with it - I have to take some time and figure this out.
I too have to wait until I get home (I use LW on a Mac here at the office).

Thanks!
