View Full Version : Lip Syncing with a lower Jaw

Can anyone point me to a tutorial, or explain to me the best way to rig for lipsyncing. I've just started learning blend shapes, and made my first attempt at lip syncing using only blend shapes. That is easy enough to understand. But I'd like to give my character a lower jaw. I've seen some talented animators using a jaw to animate the head along with the lips, but how would I set that up?

Would I still use blend shapes for the lips and some sort of expression to rotate the jaw?

Any help is appreciated.

Insert a jawbone where the jaw should hinge. If you've already synched your animation, using a blendshape instead of a jawBone you can always copy the f-curve for that specific channel to your bone-rotation of the jaw, and then scale the keys to get the propper amount of moth opening.

Hope this helped.
