capone_adam 11-15-2004, 10:09 AM First attempt at lip sync and morphing, personally I think the head stands in many good ways but the walk on+off have problems. Let me know what you think, thanks.

Heheh, funny clip. Is it from Blue Jam?
First of all - nice work. It's certainly a good start. I'd agree, the walk needs quite a lot of work. Check out Richard Williams' book 'The Animators Survival Kit'. It has the best descriptions and explanations of walks I've ever seen. As far the facial animation goes, I really like the subtlety of it although the corresponding head movements could do with a bit more weight.
The little glance as he turns round is fantastic! Really nicely done.
Good start mate. Work on that walk and look at the head movements, after which you'll soon see what else you can add to make the lip-sync and expressions really work.

Thanks frelp, am hoping to take on board peoples comments and improve this piece later this week.
Nope, not from blue jam but Chris Morris's other work Brass eye. Episode 'Animals'.:D

the head motion ain't too bad here. That little heel bounce he does in the middle is a nice touch too. I feel that he needs to open his mouth for that intake of air at the beginning though. But the exhale in the middle actually sounds like his mouth is closed, so that would be a good thing to look at too. Plus, right now it looks like the 'i' in "It'll" is being pronounced like an 'a'. go back and check that, there shouldn't be so much of a jump between that shape and the 'L' shape. changing that may help lessen the snaping motion
let me know how that works
