Ah, nostalgia... those were the good old days in the sewer, sometimes we would
remove the manhole covers and let some sunlight in, all that green glow from the water
made most of us oozy sometimes. Esspecially the Robinsons, who went for a swim one
day and never came back...I can still remember their mailhole - we left it untouched in
their memory...

Nice work Ganthu and Dimention.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v258/Got10mm/20041114sunyday.jpg

Became frustrated, crumpled it up and threw it in the trash (some of the perspective alignments got messed up), then took it out and worked on it again (for lack of time).

blueline, started brush-inking, scanned, some photoshop adhustments and color=30min (out of time  ).

The title "A Sunny Day in my Home Town" somehow reminds me of Chinese New Year, because that's probably when the sun blazes strongest around the time of the year. Can't forget about the chickens too. ;p

Once again, great job everyone! Lovely pieces!

Some really great entries on this one. I have one in mind, but haven't had a chance to do it yet.

Ganthu - great strong light beams and moody sewers!
Dimension - is that Mars...or Transylvania?
The GOT - really love your crumpled paper!
RobertT - simpletown looks like a nice happy place, I'd like to visit someday.
erilaz - its a nice sunny scene - perhaps if you added some hills in the background, or some trees it might not be bland?
FridayEve - really nice, but I wish this one wasn't so desaturated. This theme could use some good strong, bold colors from you
SpaceCowboySpike - your sketch is simple, but I really like it - love the happy sun!
Vitriolic - I love yours! I fell in love with NZ when I visited in March, your sketch reminds me of some pics I took while traveling by ferry from Wellington to Picton.
Hammy_W - really nice perspective!
Ahmed-3D - I like this alot, but there might be just a bit too much sky?
agustus - she's beautiful...and very sunny indeed! lovely!

Well, this one might be a bit off-topic, by accident. Initially, I wanted the whole thing to be more sunny, not only the girl in the foreground and the mountain in the background, but as I went along, I could only do it this way. :/ Well, I hope no one minds. It is sunny... kind of... maybe starting to be? ;)

Plus, this is no hometown either, (not mine, at least, hehe) but the story is, for the girl, it is her hometown. (It brings Cradle Of Filth's "Born in a burrial gown" song to mind, hehe)

Aaaanyway, hope you like it. :) Photoshop 7, starting from scanned sketch. (Rough, done in 20 min) The whole thing took around 2 hours 55 minutes, the longest I've ever devoted to one of these things. Getting somewhere, though, I think. :) (Maybe? Hehe)

Thanks Art2!

Kelli, nice composition. I think you need to blend your shading a little more and use more saturated colors. Your colors are sometimes so pastel, they hardly show up online.
Your work keeps getting better with each drawing, keep it up!

I love yours PixeleD! I can just FEEL the sunshine!
calzoncillos - Really nice piece, but I've never seen sunshine look so cold!
Jasel - Ok that looks beautiful - now I need to add Bogota to my list of places to visit!
MtFR - i like yours, but I can't tell if that is a sunrise, sunset or a bomb going off
Keem - really nice, great use of colors. I'm hoping to visit Cairo next year. I want to squeeze in a few days there on my way either to or from visiting my son and his family who are currently living in the UAE.

Hey! I'm glad you like it over there... have you been to Medellín? A big hello to my people!!

Jasel - Ok that looks beautiful - now I need to add Bogota to my list of places to visit!

Well, that's actually Medellín, not Bogotá. But of course you wouldn't be wasting your time if you decide to visit any of them (and the countryside) ;)

Ok, I'm getting nostalgic now, it's been over two years now  /me goes and fetches some tissues....

I'm sorry, Jasel, you did say it was Medellin, I think DarkLord mentioned Bogota and that is what stuck in my head. Anyway I've heard the whole country is beautiful.

Keem - I think I'll take you up on the offer for advice. I'll do that offline in a personal message so we don't clutter up the board.

thanks!

Thanx Got, i like ur style too u know.. Vector graphics rules ;)Thanks! I love vector graphics. I'm also working at figuring out how to paint in Photoshop because everyone is doing some cool stuff here. Illustrator has some cool vector-custom brushes that I've been playing with.

I'm awfully late but I've been willing to sketch my hometown for a while now. The town itself doesn't really match, but the atmosphere does I think. You know.. Holland, Delft, flat, sunny, fair amount of clouds, fields..

hope some see it and like it.
