It's like the model is too separate from the background, it's not like one only thing. I think.

Well, it's a great image but I could instantly tell the model from the photo... the turtle doesn't feel connected to the water or the scene.

That's what I wanted to say in my post, you found the best words.
I saw a tutorial, I cannot remember where (maybe 3dtotal.com(, it helps to insert a 3d model in a background image, modifying it to best connect 3d and 2d.

the squares on the shell shouldn't be squares, but pentagons or 6-sided (I don't remember).
and the shell shouldn't be connected to the body where the feet and head starts, because if it's connected, the turtle couldn't hide inside.

modeling and materials looks nice. but as the other friends said its seperate from background. look at the depth of water, you need to add some fog and maybe even some more volumes. on theother hand lighting seems off too. in background we have soft shadows but turtle has nothing.

Beautifully done (the turtle). Not quite well mixed with the background, tho.

Overall, a very good one.

Taniguchi san,

NIce work:thumbsup:
Your Tutle modell created by curved surface?
I believe little bit hard to make arround eye area.
For myself many parts converted to polygon mesh when I use Shade.
