View Full Version : Quick way to create
okay wondering if anyone can help me with this
im trying to create a crinkle on the bottom of a dress of a character
I was going to attempt to use a wave deformer but i don't quite think it will do the job
The look of this crinkle is to resemble ruffled/ scrunchy
thanx ziah

Do you need the dress is to be animated or just for an illustration?
Wave deformers could work quite well - but you would probably have to use more than one to create a more complex wave effect.
If the crinkle doesn't need to be animated you could use cloth and freeze it in the right position.
Have you had a go with displacement maps - these could look ok as long as the ruffles do not need to be folded over on themselves.
yeah the dress is going to be animated.
Th crinkle area of the dress it to be rather stiff tho
I tried using a wave defromer but it din't "scrunge"/ crinkle it enough
Base on what you say im going to try using another wave deformer as well again
thanx
hmm found and easier way and decided to post this just incase anyone comes across a similar issue
randomize and jitter . these tools are located in the modify>deform panel
:)

Sometimes Proportional modeling will do the trick too. With Consider Neighborhood on.
Also, there's a spine deformer which uses a curve on a surface to deform.
