Hi,

I'm just began to model a city scene, and dont really know how to do the sstreetlines. One street is _really_ long and pointing straight in one direction, and I need the marks being repeated all down the street. I tried to use a texture, that worked, but the lines were total blury and I need them having sharp edges. And to duplicate a stretched cube isnt the real thing. The street has around 10 lanes. 5 on each side. On the edges of the street there are long lines, and between the lanes some broken lines.
Like this:

I'm new to 3d and everything, but in Maya, but you have to play around with the texture options, mess with the repeating options and the U and V coordinates. Also the texture placement tool.

It is all in the Maya help... Just a simple press of the F1 key.

Look under Rendering and Render Setup.

Stuff like this, it is probably better to figure it out yourself instead of asking, but that is just my opinion and how it would probably be more helpful and better learnt.

Could you let us know what kind of geometry you are using for the street (Nurbs, poly, or sub-d's). Also, is your road one single piece of geometry or is it sections of geometry. I ask this because it would probably be nice for you to not repeat the same texture with the exact same properties over and over. You probably want a little bit of variation such as oil spots, skidmarks, etc.

There are a lot of possible options you can look into, and knowing a bit more about your geometry will help us give you a wide range of options.

^agreed, you know you could just make the whole street texture in ps, that is what is going to give you the best results if done right.
