View Full Version : Magnifying glass in Max

Hello,there,

I wonder if you could hlep me on this one, Id like to have a (relativelly believable) magnifying glass in Max3.1 and I have no idea of where to stark; applying a distorted AVI to the lense just doesnt strike me,I want something more organic in functionality, what do you think would be the best solution?!

A raytraced material of some kind is what Im looking for, though I know raytrace materials dont do this....

Yes they do...you can set the index of refraction somewhere in a rollout...(and turn on raytrace antialiasing, it's somewhere in the global parameters)

You could also you the map 'thin wall refraction' which is ideal for this situation. Crank up the map size a bit , else the image will be a bit blurry
