View Full Version : different kinda concept work (no monsters)
Sleepless 08-23-2002, 08:10 PM What the heck....It's still a concept right?
I did this one for fun in PS7, I going to be doing more digital final art so I needed the practice. This concept got rejected by the client. They chose the sketch on the far right, but I painted it traditionally for them because I was a afraid they wouldn't like it done in PS. This is pretty typical of the assignments for me. It was for a medical mag.
I'd rather be doing monsters they are much more fun.

Yeah, or naked chicks or racingcars or robots or spaceships or some more naked chicks or things on fire... I know that feeling very well ;)
It surprises me that you present multiple sketches. I always try to avoid that. It usually ends with "that thing from nr1 in the color of nr2 with the back of nr3 and the text my daughter just wrote and the typeface from nr4"... If you know what I mean.
Is it about some fusion (=that OK in english?) of different hospitals or a collaboration or something?
Cheers, jeroentje

Great concepts (i love your colors, well, the colors you use), what is it for?
It reminds me a plaque that the doctor i visited when i was a child (pediatra in English?) had, wich said:
"One doctor heals
two doctors doubt
three: youīre dead."
I didnīt pick up the meaning till i was older and much more intelligent (yesterday) itīs something about not to ask for different doctorīs opinions, cuz they contradict each other.

jeroentje -> I always feel guilty if I don't do more than 1 concept, the only time I give 'em 1 is if they provide the idea. As you know if they give you a concept, know matter what you do that's the one they will want. - the article they gave me was about family docs overlapping their practices to cover all types of physician care....(at home, Hospital, Nursing home and docs office)
Pancreas -> I like your plaque proverb, it's funny but true I think. It was for a small medical magazine. Colors, yes I'm back into various grays/muted tones some of my older work tended to be "candy colors" but whatever they want I oblige.
Now back to Monsters and Dwarves, LOL

The one that you posted in color was by far the most interesting and entertaining. I think they chose the wrong sketch, personally. Good job, as always:applause:

Nice render! I can see why they chose the image on the far right, its much more friendly and happy looking. the rendered one gives a scary impression, for several reasons
3 Doctors on each other shoulders eludes to Circus act.
The empty open coat gives the feeling of a monstrosity of some kind, hidden waiting to jump out at you..headless.....
and the muted colors and lighting ads a "horror flick feel"
Sleepless, you must really have an attitude about doctors
While I too feel the same way by the defintion above.
