View Full Version : animation loops
jonpdrew 11-10-2004, 04:53 AM O.K., I have an animation of 800 frames...frames 0 to 400 has an object coming from the back ground to the foreground. Frames 400 to 800 have the object rotating 360 degrees. Now what I want to do after frame 800 is repeat frames 400 to 800 over and over...essentially having this object spin forever if I want it to. Should this be a loop event in video post? I have a vague idea of how video post works but it's really new territory for me. Any help would be appreciated.

it might help to know what software you are using. I know that in maya, in the curve editor, you can mark a set region of frames repeat forever by clicking one button. Its easy enough to do in post though.

Sounds like you're using Max. In Track View, Controller>Out of Range Types.... set it to "Loop". To only do frames 400 to 800, you could separate that movement into its own node - a group or dummy that drives the rotation - and then set the out-of-range "out" curve to loop and the "in" curve to constant.
Otherwise, looping is easy in any editing software, such as Premiere, Vegas, Video Post, etc.
