Hello,
I think the skinnig realy stressful... Don't you? SO have you tips or a tutorial adress to learn it easly. Note I know rigging (placing and setup my bones)...

A second question... About folding effect. Do you think that modeling some flod will be great at animating??

Reagards, Nicool.

Hi,

- I think it is easier to work downwards in the hierarchy
- never use replace with the value zero! (paint weights)
I always use it with 1. That's because the sum of the weights of all bones for every vertex got to be 1. If you use replace 0, you have no control witch bone is filling the gap in the weighting.

for problem zones (or folds) you can use blend shapes and driven keys. (duplicate the mesh with incoming connections. In the problem pose fix the problems (moving cv or what ever you want). finally detach the skin (or delete the skinning node in the hypergraph). now you got a modified mesh in bind pose.)
Its important, that the blend shape is before the skin node in the history.

I hope this helps...

I like precision when modifying weights. The component editor is my best friend. All you have to do is select a bunch of verts, open up the componnent editor and enter values for your wieghts. You can click drag over several fields at once and enter a value for all of then simultaneously.

For doing animated folds and creases you should look at using influence objects, bump maps, and displacement maps.
