Gorilla/King Kong Textures?

Well since gorillas are mostly covered in hair, you've got a pretty easy job when it comes to creating textures for them :) Unfortunately I don't have any links to hi-res pics of them, but their skin has similar features to those of humans, except that it's much thicker and leathery looking. So my advice would simply to go for a very dark human type texture, but with leathery shading.

The image I'm wanting to make will have the Gorilla/King Kong head taking up about half of the screen, so I was hoping to get pretty detailed shots.

I was wanting to try to use the images to create bump maps as well. I had no idea until I started lookng, but gorillas have truly a bizzare nose construction. Very remaniscent of something you would see on an alien in a Star Trek TV show.

Not great for textures, but click on the "Image Zoom" link under the picture and a pop-up launches that lets you zoom in pretty close. It appears to substitute a high rez image to do the zooming. OK for basic texture work, but really great for reference photos during modeling, or when you need a reference for your own textures.

If I was doing this comercially I'd just go a head and purchase the Animal CD they have, but for $499 it's out of my price range for just personal gratification.

OK, after piecing together a bunch of web photos in PhotoShop, here is what I've come up with:

It's a mountain gorilla head texture, but since I'm doing this for a King Kong image, my question is, What color is King Kong?

For some reason I think King Kong should have brown hair and with a grey face. Has Hollywood and B-grade science fiction movies ruined me? Mountain gorillas have black (or very dark brown) fur with black faces.

Just wanted people to recognize it as King Kong and not just someone in a cheap gorilla suit. I'm probably at the point where I'll get better feedback from the WIP forum, so I'll just move my discussion there.
