Hey there peps! Just a quick question: I want to upgrade my old graphics card (Nvidia Riva TNT2) to something better in a price range up to $300 bucks. Right now I'm looking at NVidia GeForce (FX?) 6800. I'm using my comp mostly for graphic software like Photoshop and Maya so I want to get what's best in my price range. So what do you people think? Is 6800 worth the cash or is it mostly for games? And is there something better out there? Any comments and help highly appreciated.
(I'm running Maya 4.0 and Photoshop 7.0 on P4 2.0Ghz with 512mb ram)

well, if your current gfx card is a "Nvidia Riva TNT2", you need to make sure that your motherboard can handle a new card.

What exactly are you expecting to gai from this new upgrade? That your current gpu is so old suggests that the rest of your computer is likely the same, a gpu upgrade might not give you the gains your looking for...

The new card will give a real speed boost, he has a 2 gig P4 so the machine cannot be that old. So long as it has an 8x AGP port there will be no problems.
