Hey guys, what´s up.
Well, here´s the thing. I´ve been trying to make a composition, mixing a couple of living rooms fornitures with a photo. So, I placed the forniture, making it fit to the picture´s camera angle, then I generated some very primitive geometry (like the floor and some walls) so they would recieve the shadows the elements are supossed to cast. So far, so good. Now, what I need is taking from the render the objects and the shadows so I can compose it later. The problem is, that if I use the "use background" material, the GI photons wont work. The question is: How can I make this work with mental ray? (and yes, it is necesary mental cuz it´s a test for a job, and they require mental ray) There´s a shader for mental that works similar to "use background"? Any other work out? I´d be very happy to all kind of feedback! Thanx! :D

The Maya community would definitely benefit from Francesca/Pixero/BigMuh/etc making a new Mental Ray specific version of the useBackground shader.

Perhaps you could use the CTRLlIrradience shader from Francesca (lets you modify all aspects of GI/FG illumination) to create a GI pass to composite with as a seperate layer. Like:

1. Make all the objects you need white
2. Use the CTRL Irradience shader (or just photon shaders even) to make the objects emit the right colours.

Then you could multiply that pass with your photo?

Ok I'm kinda losing the idea here.....I'm tired hehe.
