View Full Version : Version 8 <=> Version 9 Compatability?
rgwarren 11-07-2004, 11:02 PM I just noticed that Painter IX has also added product "activation". While I haven't had problems with this "feature" from Adobe and Microsoft, my comfort with this technology comes with the knowledge that both those companies will probably be around for the long haul. I'm not as certain with Corel.
Is there a backwards compatibility of the file format with version 8?

I just tried the evaluation version. I had no problem loading a file made with V9 into V8. But I didn't use layers or anything. Maybe try the free download to check which things should be compatible for you. If you have a fast connection of course. Otherwise you should be more precise in what kind of files you make and what issues should be compatible. On the other hand there's always the PSD format to save layers.
Hope this is of any help, Arjo.

I forgot about the PSD support. That's perfect!
