View Full Version : Extrude manipulator

Is there a way to get a proper extrude manipulator in max? I really was counting on it in max 5. Jozef tools are the closest thing I've seen. Like in Maya (and that's about all I know about Maya) - you can move, rotate and scale the polys while you extrude.

Nooo kidding. Maya's is sweet.
The ONE thing I wanted.......was a fast way of adjusting soft selection strength. Like XSI's, I just roll the middle wheel, or hold the middle mouse button and move the mouse right or left. Quick and easy.

This may be possible by writing a plugin, but other than that I don't think so. Unfortunately, scripted manipulators in Max only have access to an object's animateable channels (pos, rotation, scale, modifier parameters, etc. -- things with controllers). This means that it would not be possible to create a proper scripted manipulator for extrusion at the editable mesh or editable poly level, since such extrusion has no controller associated with it. Probably the best that could be done through scripting would be a manipulator for the face extrude modifier, but that would be limited at best.

Oh, damn, you're right, soft selection... At least now it looks good.
Too bad you can't get manipulators. That would make poly modelling much more straightforward.
