View Full Version : RADEON 9600 XT 256MB or GeForce FX 5700 256MB ?

Which one is better ? I want to do gaming and work in 3Dmax so I need
allaround good card what you think about this two
$131 RADEON 9600 XT 256MB or $92 GeForce FX 5700 256MB

My budget is up to $150 what do you guys think?
O and one more thing I curently have WildCat VP990 pro which I got for $150 from a santa ;)
anyway it works like crap no difference in max and not good for games :( I will probably return it today. and get one of the ones I mentioned.

I do hope you are kidding. The Wildcat will outperform either of those gaming cards you mentioned. Sounds to me like you haven't installed the drivers correctly.

You need to install both the Windows and 3DSMax-specific drivers to get the most out of this card. Go here:

http://www.3dlabs.com/support/drivers/

Download the latest drivers, and try again. Whatever you do, don't throw away a perfectly wood working card!

No. Wildcat VP cards are workstation-only OpenGL cards. They are not gaming cards.

If you'd rather play games than do work, then by all means buy a gaming card. But don't come crying when your workstation apps don't work as well as they used to, and the card manufacturer's won't offer support.

And since you can afford 3ds max surely you can also afford a very high-end graphics card to push those polys around your screen. But in this case you've already got a Wildcat so use that.
Then save up some more chump change and build a second computer for gaming purposes.
