A plot waaay too long to describe here
by the Wizard Hippylol brought end to
the Wazzat Confederation's mighty space
fleet. The plot took years to execute
but in the end it brought the Wazzat
ships in vicinity of planet Idonlikepepsi ,
where Hippylol had established a great
magnet system that pulled the Wazzatian
vessels from the space and crashing down
on the planet's surface. This image was
taken by a maintenance droid from the
safety zone that's under the magnet
towers , where the magnets have no effect.

"It was one magical moment" -was heard
said by the Wizard Hippylol of the event.

He he... this will be cool. Really looking forward to see you handle 5D.... let me suggest using a Cinema4D license... then there's only 1D missing, that might be manageable.

Watching.... good concept too...

I think you should get a prize just for thinking of the idea of "5D"...........Funny...have fun,and it's great to see you here in the 3D World Panu.......:arteest:

as with your 2D thread, this will be interesting to watch and take part in! I have only book knowledge of 3D, so won't be of much help... but I'll try and offer an eye occasionally! Good luck juggling

Eh, that's not too shabby :D A bit edgy perhaps, but what we swedes usually refer to as a "good start". And OK, it is a little bit funny too :p

EDIT: Just noticed the squirrel. That immediately bumps up the funnyness several notches.

I really enjoy your sense of humor. I like the start you have going there. May I ask if
the squirrel is really the Wizard Hippylol keeping on top of things?

Looking forward to more...

err..panic mode not intended but if it looks like that, cool enough :)

The original concept sketch looks great. Good use of colour and composition. The maintenance Robot looks very technical and could be similar to the small robots in Disney's The Black Hole. Maybe you could use this film as reference for colour, I remember it being very bright and vivid in depth. You could also possibly add some dirt to the textures, especially around the engine glow.

Excellent work. Best of Luck.

I wonder does somebody sell those magnet pillars in TV Shop as well ??
The small robot fella is somehow relative to Johnny5. Id like to see it in panic mode
:bounce:

Great work :)

JamesMK

Now you're going to have to model a really fat friar Tuck too...

Incidently, I used to know a modeler from Finland who also built robots looking quite like yours... ... must be some kind of really weird finnish tradition :D

Squibbit
11-08-2004, 09:50 PM

we don't yet know why we build our maintenance robots , though :hmm:

In fact, it reminds me some french comic strip by "Manu Larcenet" about an old and insane Robin Hood.

Hilarious it was (and it still is).
On the good path you are.

Good luck padawan !

I enjoy the idea of the falling ships. Although I'm still kindof confused as to what is going on, the color concept seems to be going in the right direction. I would only add that perhaps there is another perspective that might give the fallen ships a more dynamic feel.

Squibbit

tikson - yea I guessed :) and look, greentek's with the christmas outfit too , lol

The planet's got electricity plenty enough , you just have to harness it -
which the magnet towers do - and afterall, there's only Wizard Hippylol , his robots
and devices and a squirrel or two on the planet :)

greentek - thanks, buddy ! It's really a bit strange...I never used much photo reference or
tutorials, just relied on imagination...can be mighty difficult in bad times...but
I guess that's how it's easier to come up with stuff.
I always play around with what people say or do and that often gives me new ideas. Most of the 'new' ideas are old and used or stupid , but there's a pearl or two there evety now and
then and those might end up as concept sketches.
So next time you see someone making a pic or hear someone speaking of something, whatever it is, give it a hat , a couple of extra legs , think of how it manages to live
between the treebark and the tree and make it , let's say yellowish black and you
have some idea of how i develop these stories :)

Hi there, thx for the kind words, actually checked your machineflesh thread some weeks ago, most impressive. I don´t think I realized how crazy you are at that time. And fast!!! I, myself, is mainly a 2D artist, but can´t find the time, you obviously has found, to work in both areas for this challenge. So I chose 3D to really learn something new. But you can do it both!!! -and are very good in both areas. Kinds of makes me flattered, you took the time to comment my work...almost tears now.....hard to write more, fingers shaaaaking.

Anyways, fun presentation and great skills:thumbsup:

Thx for commenting my Satan Claus avatar. Probably should have spend the time, working on the challenge, but I´m a people pleaser, you know; If people says "grow a beard", so I do...

Nice update, should make the wizard feel at home. He´s well suplied anyway, doesn´t have to leave his beloved platform. Maybe a little cold up there...-but his hat should keep him warm, so who cares.

Could you please come to my entry for a quick visit, need some advice (have become "quality" blind, and need some external opinions)

Kragh

oh, btw:

Trees drop the leaves at winter to save energy. The sun energy(which the leaves is designed to get(see photosynthesis elsewhere)), is less than the energy, the tree must use to keep the leaves. So it drops them.

Squibbit

I had planned to put a flaming trash barrel on the platform.

next I'm gonna try and put all the pieces of the scene together , tho , so I only
need to tune up stuff after that and not model or texture anything new anymore...

If there was an award for the funniest thread you'd surely be the winner! And there really should be... It's always nice to see someone spice hard work with a bit of humour, makes us all realize that we're supposed to really have fun with it :) ...

Sometimes we get entangled in the if's and what's and tend to take things too seriously which in the end isn't helpful at all, so thanks for the reminder

Btw... I think you might have heard this already but... Good job with the squirrel :applause:

this is totally a test scene with default
lighting , no shadows , and sky borrowed
from www.1000skies.com .
just once again putting all things built
so far in one pic and witnessing the horror
of it ...

PS. to those who know the birds in the pic
are a failed attempt to duplicate Dimi's
sparrow fighters; once built they instantly
took off without their pilots and headed
south
... imagine that

PPS. this is special to the squirrel fans , it
sits on top of Ms.Butterfinger's head on the
middle-left of pic

Aethyrprime

final view locked ,hehe , funny how many details
get lost in the final pic

gotta have to draw a better concept next
time .. . .

still to come , burning, falling spaceships by the numbers

and of course wonderful lighting effects
that bring tears (whichever) to your eyezz :)
