This is a concept for a 3D Character, it's done as a mixture of loads of photographic reference (montage - animals / skulls / people, etc), hand painting, and then photoshop manipulation. Any feedback appreciated, tell me the first thing you think of when you see it! :)

Thats awesome, first thing I thought of was a demon from the old west or something, like a wanted poster, anyways It's real good, real freaky looking and the colors and mood is great.

Is it the Crypt Keeper from Tales from the Crypt?

Hi,

thanks guys,

The ears / beard thing, :) , I probably went overboard when airbrushing and erasing, hence the lower bottom of the right ear missing, but in the end I thought it added to the overall style, and left it, the beard / stubble effect was probably more to do with the photoshop manipulation I did afterwards, the character is organic / dead, so it worked for me. The whole chin area in general was actually photographic reference (with various additions) of an actual corpse from the Palermo Crypt in Italy.

Didn't see the likeness originally, but yeah, I see what you mean with the crypt keeper! :)

Hi again,

Here's the original before Photoshop Manipulation, which as you can see, is extremely rough by comparison : -
