Never heard of "Genius" brand.
If it were a Wacom, Aiptek, or Calcomp then you'd be in luck.

Genius is the worst brand for making computer accessories, the only good thing they made was a 3-button mouse from 10 years ago, other than that all my experience with thier products has been aweful.
i bought a cheap genious pad a couple years ago. it was a POS. but then again, i got what i paid for. i used it once or twice and threw in the bin.
I should've known not to buy a tablet from people who can hardly make a decent mouse.
sorry you made the same mistake i did.
good luck on your next purchase. (make it a wacom).
Dont panic. Genius tablet may not be as precise as the Wacom, but it should work in moving cursors. Have you checked with the vendor support? Have you try visiting helps sites like the follwing?

One item is similar to your situation:
Q:Digitizer works in Windows, but not under AutoCad
Answer:
Select "Preferences" under the "Options" menu.
Set the pointing device to "system pointing device" and click OK.
Now you must be able to move the screen cursor by tablet puck or stylus
Select "Preferences" under the "Options" menu and choose "Wintab compatible Digitizer ADI 4.2"
Then click tab Set Current and click tab Apply.
Good luck.
