Hi all!
I'm Mayer, and this is my last picture. I made it followeing Feng Zhu's origonal draw. I used Maya and Vray in max. I workd for 4 days in the model and i spended more some days with shadering and lighting.
I hope you like it.

Hi Mayer!
You made it well as Fheng Zhu had drawn.
I think the head is the best part of the droid... You made it from few poly, great!
And also great the metal shader except on the flanes.
Keep it up!

G.I.Gig: Thanx, but i cant draw as well as Feng Zhu so i just use his draws for reference.
Youth: Thank you. Head is my favorite too :P.

yea, vray for maya has been available since 2004 june, I immediatly bought it when it came out for it and havn't been happier since. :) check out alias site for information on it. Very nice when compared with maya's software renderer, or mental ray :)))

Nice pic there Mayer! I love the modelling. It's cool, that the shape and curvature of the plates and junctions aren't perfect. The lighting is nice too, however, I think this cool model would really deserve a bit more complicated environment, than a blurred backdrop. Somehow, this environment is odd, I can't really imagine this robot in the middle of a forest (or a meadow...)
But, it's still nice.
By the way, I can't find any articles at alias.com, or at vrayrender.com abou a VRay release for Alias Maya, just the free connection to VRay EXE, wich is still at an early beta stage (the public downloadable one... of course).

Excellent and economic modelling, true to the original concept. I would like to see it more abused in textures, dirtier and maybe rusted in places... or completly chromed, that´s an option. Yeah, this model deserves a better background too. Anyway, good work.
I had done too an interpretation of Zhu´s concept, please take a look at:

Constructive critics welcomed.
I like the lighting in this picture. The object reminds me of a mechanical seahorse!
