I have made this file to replace the default startup scene. To use it as the startup scene, just replace the New.c4d file under the C4d directory ( to revert to the default startup scene, just delete the file, C4d will create a new one next time.)
This adds the most often used commands for the different tools to the HUD ( saves me from creating them every time).
If started doing this for the brush tool first, since there is no other way to interactively change the radius ( the scroll button is not a good solution)..

I also added a button to toggle the grid, and one to "isolate" the active objects ( turns Skeleton Mode on for the other scene objects) - Kind of a work around for not having an isolate/quick Hide function by default in C4d. Just open the file, and see if you like it.

Thanks, I like it! I made some changes (moved the elements around, removed frames, etc.) but that's all personal taste and screen resolution.

Hey thats pretty good! - i didnt even know about the isolate feature! as for the live selection radius i find it easier to hold down the left mouise button while scrolling the wheel than to have that up on the HUD

:)

EDIT - Just read your post properly :), thats a good way to isolate the other objects, and why is the scroll wheel not a good option for adjusting the radius of the brush? - seems to work fine here

I don't like scroll for the brush because you can't move it off the mesh and it's hard to scroll without moving the mouse a little.
