Darrell Croswell 08-22-2002, 09:40 PM i am using paint fx and i painted on an objekt.
when it is in view of the kamera everything is fine, but when it is not (and shouldnt render at all) it shows up in a totally different place.
what the hell??

Could you be a little more specific about your question. Maybe post some images of what you are talking about. Not quite sure what you mean.

Yup, kind of weird rendering/viewing in other viewports.

Ah, I know what you mean. You THINK you're painting on the object but when you move your viewport, it's somewhere off in the distance. :p
First thing, did you make your object "paintable"? Second, what is your surface? A Poly, Nurb, or SubD? I don't think you can use paint effects with SubD's. (last time I tried)
A workaround that I like to use is create a curve along your object. You can snap the curve to the object's vertices by pressing "V". Then I apply the paint FX brush to that curve. Paint Effects -> Curve Ultilies -> Attach Brush to curve.
This is ideal for creating leaves on a geometric tree or vines coming off a house.
