Been browsing around for a new LCD and was wondering if anyone had any experience with Philips LCD's. I've only used Samsungs and NEC's but the 19" ones that I want are way out of budget. But I did stumble across a Philips w/ some really nice specs comparable to the NEC's and Samsung's that I've used (but smaller in size, only 17"). So yeah, any issues of QC? Or concerns? Here's the one I found:

Dell USA is have a promotion. The 20.1" LCD is only 639.20 and the 19" only 534.65.

In a recent PC World review, the Dell 19" is rated best buy. I am using a Dell 19" now.

By all acounts, Dell is clearing out their 2001fp stock to make room for their 2005FPW, a 20" widescreen lcd.

sorry for the jaunt :)

oooh that's true... I've never looked seriously at Dell monitors. Does anyone know if they OEM off anyone or do they manufacture their own?

guys guys guys!! I can't help drooling over that LCD!!....

any idea about pricing? Will they be going down anytime soon??... haha..... actually, one thing I did not see on the site spec was pixel response time for the 2001. Any ideas as to what it is?

pixel refresh rate is 17 ms. (absolutely no ghosting on the 2001fp). Its native is 1600x1200, so if you don't have a beefy video card , I would get something smaller.

You can haggle with the dell salesman, and get it for under 600 with free shipping. Thats how I bought mine anyway.

They seem to be really good about checking the screens for dead pixels also. Mine has no dead pixels at all on the screen, but I think I got lucky

And because its printed on the Internet that immediately make its a fact, right? /rolls eyes

Just do a search on these forums alone ,and you will see not one person has had any of those problems.

My favorite part was when people asked the kid why he didn't return the LCD for a new one since he has 30 days as part of Dells policy.
His response was his mom payed for half of it ,and he didn't want to upset her, LOL.
Can you smell the Bullsh!T ? heh

One last point, Lukx if you had bothered to read through the kids thread itself you would have noticed that the people that had bought the 2001fp had not encountered any of those problems, and could only say good things about there Dell LCD's.

Do some research man, before you spread other peoples propoganda.

See this thread: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=829602

Dell gives you 30 days to send any monitor you buy from them back, for any reason, and they'll pay shipping.
