View Full Version : Radiosity question???
primal101 08-22-2002, 08:26 PM I was just wondering does max 4.2 have radiosity? I read somewhere in this forum that max can create radiosity. The manual says max can create radiosity through the environment dialog. I'm taking a studio max class and my teacher said max can't create radiosity.
I'm very confused right know.
1. can max simulated radiosity.
2. if max can, how can i do it. some tutorial will be very helpful
Please help

Max 4.x does not do radiosity. You can plug in several renderers to do global illumination (achieves pretty much the same as radiosity, but with subtle underlying differences). You can also create a 'domelight' with a number of scripts (domelight, HDRdomelight, lightmesh etc) which will create a soft shadowed look similar to radiosity & GI, but without any colour bleeding (like if you had a bright red wall, & the nearby carpet was tinged red from bounced light). Are you sure that the manual said 'radiosity' in the environement?

wierd, whats the context of it? Its not talking about viz or something like that is it? Radiosity is a new addition in Max 5.
