so I'm modelling a book...yeah I know, overdone...but my current issue is with the binding...
I modelled it by creating a simple spline shaped like this:
===========
||
===========
but with some thickness of course, then I extruded it the length of the book...and chamfered the edges to round them a bit...this gives me the basic shape of the binding...
Applying meshsmooth, the thing mangles...specifically the inside part of the spine where the pages attach becomes ugly. I was hoping the chamfering would limit the smooth to the shape of the book but alas, no such look. Whats the best way to do something like this properly?
