Excellent work - really like this one. The only helpful suggestions i can think of is that her left forearm looks a little short, and the specular in her right eye looks different to the other one. Is it a glass eye or something?

I just love this one, it's so smooth, i especially like the right hand blade. I love the lighting on this, my only crit. is that the rear flap of her skirt should be a little more flexible right where that belt hits it. 4.5 stars :applause:

This is so smooth, and the look she's got, I wouldn't mind being killed by a looker like her, but one thing I noticed, for someone who's using such large bladed weapons, she's got so little blood splatter on her. Her arms and body especially are WAY too clean for me to believe she used them to kill something. But all in all, this is still nice too look at.

mickman: I'm doing everything digital now, including the sketches and line.
andy: the eye is supposed to be damaged, there is a scar across her face there, probably not apparent enough :P
jose: i've tried in the past and failed.
thanks everyone :)

Excellent image with attitude, man. Nice rendered materials and imperfections. My only crit would be her right arm too clean, very polite according her job. And please, put some background... such good work needs placement references.

11-05-2004, 12:05 AM
that's f***** brilliant!!!:bounce: i love the smoothness of colour,
but
---get a background , it will earn you one more star at least:)
---blade grit is unnatural, blotches and decay too digital
---overall tooo clean-cut , both as sketch and char to pass as post-apocalyptic.'feels; like a studio shot
(crit is mostly subjective)
there's lots of attention to detail so 4stars 4u, you make me want to post something new
on the post-apocalyptic theme

Awsome work.
I read that your doing everthing digitally I'm wondering how you get the perfect outlines and line work? i.e do you use a wacom tablet and draw them freehand, or do you use paths?

Nice work, though "floating characters" in space are just that. Though I agree with Jose. Some type of background would polish this badboy off. Just doing a simple textural background ie an alleyway wall ( graffiti, old torn paper posters... brickwork ) and a simple dropshadow would really finish this off. If you were worried about losing the character in the background, just fade the bg back a bit. 'Nuff said about that. Otherwise the character is well done! Love the style, love the coloring. Look forward to more for you.

Ugh. Love your clean line work. It's just not in me to do clean line, so I embraced the sketch... but I always am deeply envious of those who can keep it clean.
I like this one alot, not much to complain about really. Besides I think all the constructive criticsm that can be given already has.

Great work on the Image. The drawing looks great and the choice of colors is pretty good. I would have continued to push for larger range of shadows in the image. Even tought the image looks good, The girl still looks a bit flat. This may be addressed by adding two layers of shodow to the overall composition. An example is around the elbow on the right side of the image that looks very flat. I see a sharp black line that divides the fore arm and the bicept.
Overall, Great Job!
geart job as for this style of painting! i like the character's apparel,it makes me bethink a character from <ffx>.and the two falchion r very cool!!

The style and look are ace! The eye's are different but I do not know if that is supposed to on purpose. Also I agree that the arm may be slightly to short. And yes more blood. But the lighting is excellent, very subtle. One thing I do not like is the black line going all the way round it. But overall an excellent piece and great character design.

11-17-2004, 07:12 PM
Very nice work. I love it. I'm impressed that you can get that quality of line with a wacom. What size and model are you using? Do the larger tablets make a lot of diffrence?
I think that for a "finished image" a background would be nice but she is detailed enought that there is enough to look at without the background. I wouldn't change anything.

very nice piece...my favorite thing about this piece are the eyes. I think it connect the viewer in a different way than what is normally seen.
I think it's nice that you are going digital...hopefully we will see more character pieces with backgrounds
keep it up

Like a previous post, i feel that the eyes are a little mismatched. Is there a reason fer this? I'm personally an 'eye' man and feel that the greatest care should be take fer eyes.
That said, this is great work. Concept wise it does answer to you post-apocalypse look and feel. Love the detail of the splattered blood across her face the the textures of her blade and leather outfit!

First off, great image. I'd really like to see it without the line drawing on top though, just the painting underneath. Can you talk a little about your process? (I didn't see anything browsing through the other posts.) Did you draw straight with the wacom or had you done concepts on paper beforehand. Also, can you show a few progress images as you built up the paint.
Great job!

This is, seriously, the most attractive picture I've seen this year. She has a rough attitude but a good heart. This picture makes me want to write a story about her. The only thing I can think of that's wrong, is her breasts. They seem so far apart it hurts. I'd love to see the rest of her, what kind of shoes she'd be wearing. Again, I love this one. Gives me shivers.

As Goldfishy asked, what sort of process do you use to achieve such a polished look? It's probably too late to see a WIP on this, but I, for one, would be highly interested in the steps you take.

I think that you didn't forget even the smallest of details.
One point though. I think you should've put more position details of the legs. Their position doesn't seem clear enough. Maybe adding shadows and curves to the clothes.
