discreet certificated enginer --- It's a kind of 3ds max skill certification. In america, does anybody have heard of that? I'm a student in china, just ready to begin work, and thinking about whether to get one. I think if it only means something in china, then, there's really no need to get it. :deal:

I have one, and it doesnt do much for me. It was a nice way to get thrown into Max and CG but aside from that it's somewhat useless. ~.~

My two cents.

I don't really think a piece of paper of any title like "certified guru" or something would help anyone get into a better position in the industry. ;) Each company that is looking for people is basically "certifying" them by watching their demo reels, then giving them (if hired) a test period and then keeping or firing them depending on how well they perform in practice...

A certified discreet training specialst is a different story, students would prefer to give money to a teacher that can provide some proof that he knows his stuff.

I don't really know how much a title like "certified engineer" would bring - I don't think the programmers of best-selling Max plugins for example have ever been certified. Some of their products get certified though (those selling through the DCP via Turbosquid!)

my subjective 2 cents.
(And no, I am not "certified anything" :))

I love teach 3ds max, and I would love to become a certified instructor.

But I live here in Brazil so there's no way :hmm:
