View Full Version : Is there a simple or standard way to do this?
michaeli 08-22-2002, 03:44 PM Is there a simple and standard way to model from a spline to the smooth rounded object(as the pic showed)? or have to use a cubic extrude then apply hypernurbs method?

NO you simply CANNOT do the LW logo in C4D, YOu'll find the same with MAYA, ;)
J/k now seriously uhm extrude nurbs could sort of do it but not really, just for curiosiy could we see a wireframe of the imported mesh? I'm kinda curiouse about how they did it in LW.

I would think box modeling with hyper-nurbs would work fine. I would start with a box and then trace the object in one view, making sure the smooth curves match the origional. Then I would go to a second view to get the curves right on another plane. A bit od back and forth on the views usually gets it right for me. You would also get the different tapers right that way as well.
Acccck sacrilege :)
Thats actually quite a neat design :)

Try dropping some splines into a metaball object - might do the trick!

A metaball would just trace the contour no?
How about this, make a duplicate of each spline and put the pair in a loft nurbs. Then you can use cap and rounding for the smooth edges. Put the splines maybe 1 unit apart (but parallel). Then you can pull the points in certain areas of each spline apart to make it wider for the broad sides and leave the points close together where it needs to slope off to the tips.

Thank you all. I'll take a try!
