Hey guys, good to b back... dont get me wrong, but my previous ID (3doid) was destroyed... so i had to open a new ID and enter the challange again... i hope its okay... i thought if i miss this gr8 opertunity to learn soo much, i would really miss a lot in my life...

NOw.... i think i'll change my original concept a little bit and start posting again....

Hey People, after loosing my previous ID (3Doid) i lost all my previously submitted WIPs. i didnt wanted to join GSO again because of the ID problem. But thought it would b a great miss of a great oppertunity to learn. So i did this new concept drawing today. Its pretty much like my previous one, but i focused on the main ship/station and kept it cleen. In the main scene it would b a lot more messy and action packed.

here is the story (again)...

It's the year 2621 mankind have advanced a great deal that they expand their boundaries to far space, controlling many planets of many solar systems. This revolution happened in the year 2430. That was the time when man conflated other civilization both with force and peaceful discussions. The first 3 century the fleet gained peace and prosperity but in the darkness conspiracies where taking place. In the year 2506, a group of extremist and power hungry people lead by earth's former hero Zenix Lon betrayed earth and assembled an army of savage creatures from many planets within the fleet to fight for power. His goal was to gain leadership of the entire fleet, but to gain support from others he promised free leadership to each leader of their planet. But this also was the part of the huge conspiracy. Thus the great war begun. Meanwhile earth seeks alliance within its neighboring planets and assembled their own powerful fleet. This war has now reached its 15th year, but there seems no stop for this chaos.

And the main idea of the scene is the first huge attack of the bad aliens. and SHIPS FLYING, weapons fireing and all togather, a HELL!

Dude you got nice rendering. I wish I could do that ;_; still learning on the rendering side though.. Can't figure out how to install this dirt shader :\

The modelling is to my liking too because its very clean looking.

I was wondering is most of your ships non-SubD?
Because if they're I think I should really stop trying to sub-d every little piece I have.

Its good to see attention to detail as well.

Hey man.

On your little escape ship I love the creases in the paneling, i'm just working on a similar effect for my piece. Was it just labourious polygon modelling or do you have a special trick?

And here is the model for the Panetrater ship. Its mainly used to break into large ships by over heating the hull and teareing it apert with its sharp arm claw... The model took me about one and a half hour to model.. slow i know... but here it is.

The earlier model looks nice, and the penetrator reminds me of the matrix digging machine :) It looks very menacing! Is there going to be laser beam cutting open the hull?

no, there aint gonna b any laser cutting throught ship hulls but i'll tell you what the Panetrater does. It grabs a part of the hull, super heats it up and tears it apart to form a hole in it, and then it gets into the ship hull and explodes. Its the most sexy weapon bad ass aliens ever had :p

Yeah the penetraters have a some "matrix" flavour, but its okay, (Matrix has a "ghost in the shell" flavor, and no one cares).

I like the general look, the models are great, i think that it has some risk of looking like "just another ship in space". But let's see how it grows and evolves.

Let me get more involved in your work to post something really useful
(with "congratulations!" only no one can improve his work...)

Here is a WIP of the star background. The original file dimension is 3500x4000. I pretty much had to draw each stars. Right now its a bit over saturated to show the stars and cloud more clearly but, in the final image it will be much dimmer and less saturated because, i dont want the viewer get distracted by the stars which is not my focal point.

Nice starfield - but I think the spacing of the bright stars is a little too regular - in nature they tend to clump together a little more. Did you use any special techniques for drawing it? - I've got a galaxy to draw soon, and I've been holding off.

Nice clean spaceships btw!

Teapot-7: Thanx for the suggestion man, i'll fix it in the final run... m not using much of a special technique. its all just brush menipulation and painstaking star drawing. Wen u start doing ur starfield let me know, we might share both of our knowladge to make both of our work better...

greentek:thanx for the support man. yes teh jpg compressor really took a lot off detail out of the starfield image but its okay in the original one.

'lo

Thanks for the comment on my post OverContrast :) I actually just now stumbled onto yours :)

I have but one crit on your gun (not that I'm allowed since mine doesn't exist yet) The two smaller guns you've mounted above the main one. They make it seem a little. Well... silly. If you think about how it would work. Why have a large gun which looks like it'd blow a hole through planets firing at a ship, then followed up by two smaller guns which seem to be there to swat flies?

I don't mean to seem rude with it, but for smaller guns you'd usually give them their own firing platform. Since they're smaller and lighter, they tend to be meant as supressing fire or say to take out missiles/torpedos or the like.

Oh yeah, for the ships. When this compo is finished we should have a battle between our ships on and over Yukida (my concept's planet name) for fun :)

Your cargo vessel model is another great design, although I think (my personal taste) I would like to see a little bit more of a slope to the nose or front of the ship. This is going to look great with textures on it.

Hey OverContrast :)

That concept looks cool. I'm guessing it clamps down with those little leg thingies at the bottom and then 'injects' the aliens into the other ship using those fang type things?

Anyhoo. Those guns of yours inspired me enough to finally create my big bad fusion cannon, which I just uploaded to my entry. Hope you like. I think it's about the same size as your main cannon, and has a rate of fire of 3rps.

Not much but it packs enough punch to make holes through our moon

beautiful colors! and great piece of painting. Is this only a color test? or a approach to final background...? if a tests, then it's a great one:thumbsup: but if the something very close to the final background I would advice to think it over... I mean that the mood and style of it is too 2d, too much of dezzling beauty(like from a cartoon), and your ships look amazing and serious. You must decide which way to go. If you go with the more real picture, you should change the background(not the idea and not the colors).

Overcontrast,

I like what you have done with the "Bloodsucker" ship, looks more real. The Color background looks great, the thing that comes to mind is that there are too many stars. Although this could be that there is nothing else( no ships ) in the scene.
This is going to look good with all your ships infront of it.

Nice composition man, on the left side there will be a battle in the background? and more ships in the foreground? Because it's not mentioned on the sketch, and now the center point of the action is moved more to the right, and I feel a little lack of something on the right side.

overcontrast
12-05-2004, 05:30 PM
hey arturro, okay heres the idea... i wanna put some massive battel in most part of the scene... but theres more to the story.. earth is also in attack with a lot of nukes and bombs.. so i like to keep some little window to the surface of the earth to show that.. and on the right side i'll put some escaping ships and some attack ships too.. in the left side of the scene is mostly dedicated to attackers and explostions.... and i want my main vessel to fire plazma blasts in every direction (ofcourse in a order.. not like mad) i also want to put some of the docked defence ships inside of the main vessel to fly out and start attacking... the bottom like is i wanna put as much action in my scene as i can, cause now my primary idea is to make my scene really alive...

btw i got plans for more after the challange ends... what do you say abt an action sequence of a huge space battle... you all r welcome to participate in it.... heres the idea:
who ever is interested makes a short animated scene of anything like bullets fireing, ships exploding, mothership flying by, angry civiliens attacking and so on.. and finally those shots will b all combined to make a huge INTERGALACTIC warfare... i think it would b really cool and will definitly make its own huge GRAND SPACE OPERA... tell me your thoughts guy.... :wip:

hey arturro, okay heres the idea... i wanna put some massive battel in most part of the scene... but theres more to the story.. earth is also in attack with a lot of nukes and bombs.. so i like to keep some little window to the surface of the earth to show that.. and on the right side i'll put some escaping ships and some attack ships too.. in the left side of the scene is mostly dedicated to attackers and explostions.... and i want my main vessel to fire plazma blasts in every direction (ofcourse in a order.. not like mad) i also want to put some of the docked defence ships inside of the main vessel to fly out and start attacking... the bottom like is i wanna put as much action in my scene as i can, cause now my primary idea is to make my scene really alive...

btw i got plans for more after the challange ends... what do you say abt an action sequence of a huge space battle... you all r welcome to participate in it.... heres the idea:
who ever is interested makes a short animated scene of anything like bullets fireing, ships exploding, mothership flying by, angry civiliens attacking and so on.. and finally those shots will b all combined to make a huge INTERGALACTIC warfare... i think it would b really cool and will definitly make its own huge GRAND SPACE OPERA... tell me your thoughts guy.... :wip:
I also want to make something after the challenge:thumbsup: just to learn more and make something fun and exciting! you have a great idea, maybe with the support of the cgtalk we will do that:twisted: I wanted to animate my battle just to learn how to do that, because believe me or not, I'm a begginer and these one of my first works. Before, I have just watched a lot of tutorials. So with me doing animation alone it would be a long time to finish... but with a support of you guys... it can be something great!

Hey - great model - the blood sucker. I love all the tiny detail.

It looks a little like a star trek phaser though.....it looks small. actually, i think its just a lighting issue - the shadows are too soft - maybe they should be sharper to give a sense of scale.
I'm just being picky though - its only a test render....

i bow before your'e mighty mesh detail

Good work Zubuyer, I personaly like untextured models, so we we can see the greatness of the modeling, sometimes texturing takes away some details and i think they shoul complement each other ( also scenes comes unhandable and proxies are nessesary)

Keep Cooling the place pal!

Like that ship(Bloodsucker) alot. I saw others talking about size, well, I see no problems there. Actually, when I saw the thump, which drew me here, I thought it was size Airbus. I now see the windows and so, and would say about 30-40 meters. Hope Im close.

I like your level of details so much, specially because they look usefull. I mean, some just add details in a random matter(Im one of those actually...:)), but yours looks "thought-thru".

Nice

color is ok, but I would give to it more different saturation levels of this color. So that it has some different colors, but still in one predomimanntly color... And make some single parts like guns, etc. silver/grey/dark. In my imagination it would look good:thumbsup:

Also, i would make the windows darker...almost pitch black, and maybe make some of the pipes darker and worn. Adding small bits of color in places will really give it a kick and make it less uniform.
